Where Do Cockroaches Lay Eggs?
As the saying goes, if you find a cockroach, you can be sure of one thing: there are many more you don’t see. And what’s even truer? If you see one, you know there’s another generation of roaches ready to hatch. If you know where cockroaches lay eggs, you can get rid of them before the next batch infests your home. Here’s how you can find them.
Where Cockroaches Lay Eggs
Cockroaches lay their eggs in places with ample oxygen and prefer warm, moist areas. Surprisingly, you can see cockroach eggs with your naked eye! They are tiny at about 5mm to 13mm big and are reddish-brown in color. But just because you can see them doesn’t mean you will; cockroaches deposit their eggs in safe spots that are hard to see and are protected from insects and other predators. Common spots to find these eggs include:
- Crevices
- Cracks in wall
- Behind or near appliances
- Inside pipes
- Inside piles of food waste
Cockroaches Aren’t Just a Nuisance
While cockroaches may not bite or sting like other pests, they can cause health problems. If you or your child are experiencing allergy symptoms, don’t narrow it down to seasonal triggers without checking for roaches. About a million people are allergic to cockroaches, and some allergies are so strong, the person doesn’t have to come in contact with a roach to experience a reaction.
